Lincoln demolishes Lanphier 71-26

[January 21, 2025]  Saturday afternoon the Lady Railers hosted the Lanphier Lions at Roy S. Anderson and they put a running clock on the visitor’s from Springfield. Lincoln dismantled the Lions defense and demolished them on offense, winning big 71-26.

Makinley Knapp scored a season-high 22 points in three quarters of action to lead Lincoln to the victory.

Piper Whiteman and Mia Clark hit double-figures with 13 and 11 points respectively.

The Lady Railers took a 20-11 lead in the first quarter with Knapp accounting for ten of those points. Mesa McCloud connected for two 3s while Holmes and Whiteman each scored a bucket.

In the second quarter the Lady Railers led 34-20, with Whiteman leading the way with a pair of 3s.

Lincoln put up a monster quarter in the third, dropping in 24 points and extending the lead to 58-23. Mia Clark was hot, pouring in three 3s and tallying eleven points. Knapp continued to impress with nine points. Again Holmes and Whiteman each dropped in a bucket to drive the score higher.

Lanphier was consistent in the second half, scoring just three points in each of the final two quarters. Ceana Adams outscored the Lions alone by pouring in seven fourth quarter points. Burge scored her three points in the final quarter and with Whiteman doing the same, Lincoln’s 71-26 victory was a cakewalk.

The Lady Railers reached .500 with the win. Their overall record is now 9-9 on the season. Lincoln is 5-2 in the Central State Eight Conference.

In the JV game, Lincoln defeated Lanphier 53-24.

With Grey Gilbert hot from the tip-off, scoring eight points, Lincoln took an 11-3 lead. Emma Hutchison drained a three in the first quarter.

The Lincoln JV team had a terrific second quarter, scoring 19 points. The scoring was distributed among five players, with Hutchison connecting for two more 3s and Eliahlyn Hinton dumping in six points to lead the team to a 30-8 halftime lead.

Gilbert and Hutchison continued to guide the team in the third quarter as Lincoln’s lead grew to 42-15.

Maci Eskra led the team with five points in the final quarter and Lincoln breezed to this 53-24 win.

Grey Gilbert led the JV team with 16 points and Emma Hutchison contributed 14 points.
