Leroy McCray,83, of Lincoln passed
away on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Sharon Elms
Nursing Home in Peoria.

Leroy McCray was born on February 15, 1941 in
Lincoln the son of Walter John and Stella Flossie
Russell McCray, Jr.. He was united in marriage to
Judith Aper on April 17, 1960. She survives.
He is survived by his children: Barbara (Tom)
Winegardner, John (Jackie) McCray, Donald McCray,
Larry (Shannon) McCray, Amy Murphy. One sister:
Betty Heckler, Nine grandchildren: Daphne Fay, Lacey
Martin, Cody McCray, Joshua McCray, Amanda McCray, Christopher
McCray, Jake McCray, Andrew McCray, Sophia Soots. Eleven great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four
grandchildren: T.J. Winegardner, Alex McCray, Tad
and Makenzie Murphy.

Leroy graduated from the Lincoln
Community High School in 1960. He retired after
twenty -six years from the Logan County Sheriffs
Department as a Lieutenant.
He was of the Christian faith. His hobbies included
antiquing, watching NASCAR, genealogy and spending
time with his family.
Memorials may be made to the Logan County Sheriffs
Office.
