The Lincoln Railer Wrestling team is having a remarkable
season with a 25-3 record on the mat. The team broke the school
record for most wins in a season.
The wrestling program honored nine senior athletes and two team
statisticians on Wednesday night at Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium. The
students were recognized before the dual with Mount Zion and Normal
Community.
Senior wrestlers honored for their hard work and dedication to the
program were: Riley Allison, Soren Aukamp, Spencer Bean, James
Brewer, Aiden Frye, Dawson McConnell, Karter Hild, Cort Pentecost
and Logan Wachendorf.
Piper Graber and Faith Eckhardt were recognized for their work
keeping stats.
Wrestling coach Justin Dietrich introduced each student and read
their bios and favorite memories as they entered the gym with their
parents.
“It was a good night honoring our seniors who have led us to an
excellent season this year,” said Dietrich afterwards. “Our current
dual record stands at 22-3. We set the school record for Most Dual
Wins in a season as a team. We’ve had multiple individuals have
excellent seasons as well. Dawson McConnell is currently ranked 5th
in state at 175, and just recorded his 150 career win last year.
We've also had two wrestlers achieve their 100 career wins in Cort
Pentecost and Karter Hild. We're still looking for a great end of
season with many highlights and achievements yet to come!”

The final dual score between Lincoln and Mt. Zion was 47-20 in favor
of Lincoln. Normal Community defeated Lincoln.
Individual winners versus Mount Zion were: 120 - Ayden Shaw, 126 -
