Roadway Project near Emden - 600th Avenue closed starting July 15

[July 11, 2025]  A roadway project near Emden is scheduled to begin July 15th. 600th Avenue will be closed for several days between US Hwy 136 and 2800th Street. The roadway should be re-opened to traffic by July 18th.

The existing pavement is in poor condition. A road recycler will be used to pulverize the existing pavement and incorporate new asphalt. This process provides a cost effective option to resurfacing.

The project was awarded to Illinois Road Contractors located in Jacksonville, Illinois for $57,888. Motor Fuel Tax funds will be used to pay for the construction costs, which will be split between Orvil Township and Prairie Creek Township.

Cooperation and patience are always appreciated during the construction season as we continue to improve the safety of our roads and bridges. Status of our local construction projects can be found on the News & Closures page of the County Highway Department website.
