Jiannoni, Whitfill, Ewing, and More
Score Wins at Lincoln Speedway’s Summer Showdown
Strong Crowd Enjoys 305 Sprints, Modified Thrillers,
and More at the Logan County Fairgrounds
[July 22, 2025]
Lincoln, IL — A lively crowd packed the grandstands at Lincoln
Speedway on Friday night for an action-filled evening of racing on
the 1/4-mile dirt oval at the Logan County Fairgrounds. With six
divisions on track, including the return of the 305 Winged Sprint
Cars and the always entertaining Vintage Racing of Illinois, fans
were treated to close battles, first-time winners, and dominant
performances.
305 Winged Sprint Cars – Jiannoni Outduels Harter in Return Visit
In the second and final appearance of the season for the 305 Sprint
Cars, Kelli Harter of Dawson, IL, led the way early from the pole
and appeared to be in control. But Joe Jiannoni of Springfield, IL,
had other plans. After a spirited mid-race duel, Jiannoni slipped by
to take the lead and held off a late charge from Harter to claim the
exciting 18-lap feature win. Tyler Shoemaker, Kevin Battefeld, and
Kyson Ray completed the top five.

DIRTcar Modifieds – Whitfill Claims First Lincoln Victory
A strong field of DIRTcar Modifieds was on hand, and it was longtime
track champion Brian Lynn who looked poised for a breakthrough
night, setting the pace early in the 20-lap main. But as he
navigated lapped traffic, contact with a spun competitor sent Lynn
pitside with a flat tire. He would later charge back for a solid top
five finish, but the door opened for Lyndon Whitfill of Fairbury,
IL, to shine. Whitfill held off Brian Diveley of Springfield and the
rest of the field to claim his first-ever Lincoln Speedway victory.
Rounding out the top five were Owen Steinkoenig, Brandon Roberts,
and Brian Lynn.
DIRTcar Pro Late Models – Ewing Unstoppable Again
Dakota Ewing of Decatur, IL, once again proved why he’s the one to
beat at Lincoln, charging past Ryan Miller and Erik Vanapeldoorn to
take the Pro Late Model feature win. Ewing’s victory marked yet
another in a season filled with strong performances. Finishing
second was Colby Sheppard, followed by Miller, Braden Johnson, and
Ian Logan.

MARA Midgets – Davis Drives Through the Field
Though the field was small, the MARA Midgets provided no shortage of
action. Starting from sixth, Mitchell Davis of Auburn, IL, surged
through the pack to take the win ahead of Greg Ross, Wes Pinkerton,
Mark McMahill, and Tyler Roth.
DIRTcar Sportsman – Taylor Tops the Field
Guy Taylor, of Springfield, IL, added another Lincoln win to his
résumé in the DIRTcar Sportsman class, besting Colby Eller, Wes
O’Dell, Jim Farley III, and Tim Riech in the main event.
Vintage Racing of Illinois – McGinnis Masters the Classics
In the fan-favorite Vintage Racing of Illinois feature, it was Scott
McGinnis of Sycamore, IL, who stole the show in a competitive event.
Austin Davis, Brendan Ramer, Sam Morris, and Matt Ramer filled out
the top five.
