| A balmy Friday evening brought many 
			to downtown Emden for the 78th annual homecoming as a small town 
			with big pride hosting several fun filled activities. 
			
			 The Emden Historical Society 
			Building was open and had displays portraying Emden’s past.

 In the grassy area, children’s activities included bouncy houses and 
			slides, a rock climbing wall, fishing game, face painting, Aaron’s 
			Balloons and one on one basketball.
 
 
 Other activities were a dime toss 
			game, ring toss game and the ever popular Bingo game. 
 A few Sons of the American Legion were selling gun raffle tickets, 
			half hog raffle tickets and 50/50 drawing tickets.
 
			
			 On another corner of the street, 
			other Sons of the American Legion members ran a food stand selling 
			corn dogs, fries and drinks.  
			
			 The Dovetail Inn had special menu 
			items such as a double smash burger, twin dogs, three chicken 
			strips, mini corn dogs and chili cheese fries. 
 Down at the end of the main street, Stag R Inn had Friday dinner 
			specials like walleye, catfish, grilled Mahi, butterfly shrimp and a 
			14 ounce ribeye.

				 Davis Delights food truck sold cool 
			treats that included shakes, banana splits and a variety of ice 
			cream flavors.  
			
			 Musical entertainment was provided 
			by the Matt Miller Band, who plays a blend of country music, 
			Southern rock and honky tonk. 
 As the evening wore on, many people appeared to be enjoying the 
			small town life visiting with longtime friends they rarely see.
 
 Longtime Emden resident Roberta Rademaker said she loves seeing all 
			the babies at homecoming as she sits and visits with people.
 
 Vintage Village and Gift Shop owner Becky Adams recently moved back 
			to Emden after many years away and it was the first homecoming she 
			had been to in 35 years. Adams said it is still a nice gathering and 
			fun to meet up with people she had not seen for years.
 
 It was a great night to be out enjoying food, fun and time with 
			friends.
 
 The fun continued Saturday with a homecoming parade, a wiffleball 
			tournament, kiddie tractor pull and evening activities that included 
			musical entertainment by the band Stereotypical.
