							Glenn V. Marten, 87, of Lincoln 
							formerly of Emden passed away on Friday, February 
							21, 2025 at St. Clara’s Rehab & Senior Care in 
							Lincoln, IL.  
							 
							Glenn was born on September 9, 1937, in Emden, IL, 
							the son of Virgil C.F. & Agnes C. (Westen) Marten. 
							He married Marilyn Chesnut on June 29, 1958 in New 
							Holland. She survives.  
							 
							Glenn is also survived by his sons, Gary (Gail) 
							Marten and Kevin (Vicki) Marten; his five 
							granddaughters, Rebekah (Brandon) Westcott, Abigail 
							(Zachary) Swalley, Rachel Marten, Lesa (Mike) 
							Bradshaw, Anita Miller; twelve great-grandchildren, 
							Elliot, Augustine, Gracyn, and Jonah, Marah (Dylan) 
							Davis, Sarah Penny, Sierra (Nick) Travis, Alyssa 
							Stryker, Justin (Elisabeth) Risner, Aaron (Cassie) 
							Risner, Allen Bradshaw, and Abigail (Nate) McMillan; 
							great-great-grandchildren, Daniel, Owen, Brandon, 
							Skylar, Grayson, Sandra Mae, Wesson, Rayne, and 
							Mason; two sisters, Myrna Boward, Anita Gemberling, 
							and four brothers, Denzil Marten, Alan (Carol) 
							Marten, Lester (Ruthie) Marten, and Dale (Danette) 
							Marten. Additionally Glenn is survived by several 
							close aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 
							 
							He was preceded in death by his parents. 
							 
							Glenn was an active lifelong member of St. Peter’s 
							Lutheran Church in Emden, IL. Glenn worked at Lehn & 
							Fink in his early years of marriage; then later at 
							Logan FS as an agriculture petroleum salesman 
							serving many farmers and friends.   | 
							
							 
					
					  
							He was a member of the Emden 
							Volunteer Fire Department for over 60 years and in 
							that time served as a trustee for many years. 
							 
							He was known as “The Marble Man”, he 
							had a great interest for marbles and had a vast 
							collection of different styles from different 
							manufacturers; he also had knowledge of where they 
							were made and who they were made by. One of Glenn’s 
							favorite pastimes was setting up and selling at flea 
							markets where he would sell marbles and “Smalls” 
							from his showcases. Above all else, Glenn loved and 
							cherished his family, especially his grandchildren 
							who cherished him. 
							Funeral services for Glenn will be 
							held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 
							St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden. Visitation 
							will take place prior to the service from 10:30 am 
							to 12:00 pm also at the church. Burial will take 
							place at 2:30 pm at Hartsburg Union Cemetery. 
							Memorials may be made in Glenn’s name to the Emden 
							Fire Department, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 
							Gentiva Hospice, or Donor’s Choice. Arrangements 
							have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader 
							Funeral Home in Lincoln.
