Robert E. Matthews, 83, of Atlanta, passed away at Springfield
Memorial Hospital in Springfield on Sunday, February 23, 2025. |

Service:
Graveside Services for Robert will be held at 1:00
p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Atlanta
Cemetery.

Obituary
Robert E. Matthews, 83, of Atlanta,
passed away at Springfield Memorial Hospital in
Springfield on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Graveside Services for Robert will be held at 1:00
p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Atlanta
Cemetery.
Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Robert Ernest Matthews was born November 12, 1941,
in Litchfield. He was united in marriage to Thelma
L. Horath in 1975. Thelma preceded him in death in
2008.
Robert is survived by two children: Melissa (Jack)
Stiles and Adam (Fatima) Matthews, four
grandchildren, and one brother, Don Matthews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred
Fraley Matthews, and his wife. |
Roberts was a graduate of Litchfield
High School and worked as a front line cook at the
DIXIE in McLean for over 20 years. He loved bowling
in his spare time.
Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad.
Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta is assisting
the family with arrangements.
