Lincoln blanks Warrensburg-Latham 3-0

[March 24, 2025]  The hits and the runs were fairly scarce on Saturday at Schweitzer Field but it all worked out for the best for Lincoln, who got timely hits and ended on the right side of the 3-0 score.

The Railsplitters were able to score the first run of the game after Grey Gilbert and Regan Kutz each doubled in the bottom of the third inning. Kutz scored the second run of the inning on an error.

Madisen Wurth opened the bottom of the fifth inning with a single. Emmalyn Splitter pinch ran for Wurth. Splitter would advance bases on an error and a stolen base, eventually scoring on another error by the Cardinals.

The 3-0 lead was enough for pitchers Regan Kutz and Madisen Wurth, who combined in the circle to throw the shutout.

Kutz started the game and worked five innings. She earned the win by allowing just three hits and striking out three batters. She walked three batters.

Wurth tossed two innings, throwing up goose eggs for hits, runs and walks. Wurth struck out two batters.

Lincoln improved to 2-1 on the season.

The Railsplitters dropped last Thursday’s game 6-2 to PORTA.

Laurynn Mayberry and Kate Farnam drove in Lincoln’s only two runs versus PORTA.

Lincoln will host Sacred Heart-Griffin on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Schweitzer Field.
