The Railsplitters were able to take a 2-1 lead
in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to a two-run double by
Parker Graue.
The Spartans evened the score in the top of the sixth inning on
an error by the Railsplitters.
After two quick outs to start the Railsplitters half of the
sixth inning, Carson Fuiten singled to left field to get the
rally started. Cooper Koehler entered the game to pinch run for
Fuiten while brother Kyle Koehler was heading to the batter’s
box. Kyle Koehler got on base via a hit by pitch. The Koehler
brothers scored the go-ahead runs as Corley crushed the first
pitch on a line drive to left field for a triple. Graue followed
with a single to right to score Corley and Lincoln was on top
for good, 5-2 the score.
Carson Fuiten finished the game on the mound for the
Railsplitters. Fuiten retired the side in the top of the seventh
inning on a ground out to short, a strikeout and a fly ball to
left.
Fuiten pitched to one batter in the sixth inning. With help from
catcher Karson Komnick and shortstop Parker Graue, who were
responsible for picking off the runner at second base, Fuiten
was able to get out of a small jam.
Fuiten earned the win on the mound, a nice reward for a
successful outing.
Undoubtedly it was a great team win.
Parker Graue, who was a force to be reckoned with in the
batter’s box with two hits and three RBIs, started the game for
Lincoln. Graue worked five and two-thirds innings, allowing
three hits and two runs. Only one run was earned. He struck out
five batters and walked one. It was a great outing by the
senior.
Lincoln had six hits off Olympia pitching.
Komnick, Fuiten and Graue each had singles. Corley and Austin
Lucas each had triples. Graue had the only double on the day.
Lincoln (1-1) will play at Sacred Heart-Griffin on Tuesday at
4:30 p.m. [Teena Lowery
