							William E. “Bill” Gossett, 101, of 
							Lincoln, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 
							2025, at Timber Creek Village.
 Bill was born on October 28, 1923, in Lincoln, IL, 
							to Herman W. and Edna (Sisson) Gossett. He married 
							Rhoda Jean Brown on April 28, 1949, in Lincoln. She 
							preceded Bill in death in June of 2024.
 
 Bill is survived by his sons, Gregory (Bobbie) 
							Gossett and Geoff (Paula) Gossett; seven 
							grandchildren, Kimberly (Jaime) Schmitt, Jerry 
							(Mollie) Gossett, Crystal Gossett, Chris (Liana) 
							Gossett, Kali Gossett, Kevin Gossett, and Gabe 
							Gossett; and ten great-grandchildren.
 
 He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean; 
							brother, John Gossett; and sister, Gwen Pearson.
 
 Bill was a member of many organizations including 
							Lincoln Lodge #210 A.F. & A.M., Masonic York Rite 
							Organizations, Ansar Shrine, and Odd Fellows Lodge. 
							He was past president of Lincoln Rotary Club, 
							Lincoln Elementary School District #27, Illinois 
							State Fabricare Association, and Lincoln Chamber of 
							Commerce. Bill was a long-time member of Trinity 
							Episcopal Church in Lincoln.

							Bill proudly served in the US Army 
							Air Corps during World War II in the European 
							Theatre of operations as a communications 
							specialist. Upon returning to the States, Bill went 
							to work in his father’s dry-cleaning business. He 
							expanded that business to include floor covering 
							sales and installation. He built a new building and 
							facilities in the early 1960’s. Then Bill added 
							interior decorating to the business. Above all else, 
							Bill was most proud of his family, who he loved & 
							adored.
 A memorial service for Bill will be held at 5:00 pm 
							on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 
							Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. 
							Visitation will take place prior to the service from 
							2:00 - 5:00 pm also at the funeral home. A burial 
							will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in 
							Springfield, IL, at a later date. Memorial donations 
							may be made in Bill’s name to The Wounded Warrior 
							Project or Timber Creek Village.
