At their Annual Spring Concert held April 26th and
27th, the Lincoln Area Music Society was pleased to announce two
scholarship winners for 2025. Fern Thompson, who will be graduating
from Athens High School this year and attending Illinois State
University was one of the awardees. Fern has been playing in the
LAMS orchestra since 2022 and also played in the summer band
programs. Wyatt Ulvestad was also a scholarship winner this year.
Wyatt will be graduating from Lincoln Community High School this
year and will be attending Bradley University. Wyatt has
participated in the LAMS Chorale for the past season.
The Lincoln Area Music Society (LAMS) has been making music for
Logan County for decades, sponsoring annual concerts in the spring
and winter each year, along with band concerts in Latham Park in the
summer. The orchestra and chorale are made up of community members
that love to get together and make music, and local musicians are
invited to participate each year. Watch for announcements regarding
the start of rehearsals in the fall or contact

Currently, summer band concerts
are being planned for June 1, 8, 22 and 29 in Latham Park. The
band will be directed by Riley McDorman, Director of Bands and
Choruses at Athens CUSD #213.
Support of the musical arts in our community through Lincoln
Area Music Society is made possible through individual and
