Drew Hayes had a big day at the plate Monday
afternoon as the Railsplitters defeated the New Berlin/Franklin/
Waverly Pretzels 10-0 at Mike Curry Field.
Hayes had two doubles and a walk and drove in seven runs for
Lincoln.
Hayes gave the Railsplitters a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the
third inning with his first bases-clearing double of the game.
Karson Komnick and Owen Comstock singled in the inning and
Austin Lucas was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Hayes drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the fifth inning
that plated a run. Parker Graue added a groundout to drive in
another run in the inning. After Ashton Corley scored on a wild
pitch, the Railsplitters took a 6-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth inning Corley drove in a run on a
single to right. With the bases-loaded Hayes smacked another
double to bring everyone home and give the Railsplitters a 10-0
win in six innings.
Lincoln had six hits versus the Pretzels.
Hayes and Comstock each had two hits. Corley and Komnick added
one hit apiece.
Carson Fuiten earned the win for Lincoln. He worked six innings
of shutout baseball, allowing five hits and two walks. Fuiten
struck out four batters.
The Railsplitters defense turned two double plays.
Wyatt Frantz was the losing pitcher for the Pretzels.
Lincoln is now 7-14 on the season.
