							Josephine Ann Bishop, 96, of Lincoln 
							passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on 
							Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at St. Clara’s Rehab and 
							Senior Care. 
 Josephine “Jo” was born on July 8,1928, in Lincoln, 
							IL, to John Patrick and Mabel Ann (Mathein) Hickey. 
							She married Robert D. Bishop in Lincoln on December 
							8,1947. He preceded her in death in 2014.
 
 She is survived by three sons, Bob (Ann) of Daphne, 
							AL, Mike (Marni) of Sibley, IL, and Jim (Paula) 
							Bishop of Lincoln, IL; two daughters, Mindy (Todd) 
							Courtwright of Lincoln, IL, and Donna (Ron) 
							Billington of Bellevue, NE; twenty grandchildren; 
							and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
 She was also preceded in death by one son, Jack; one 
							granddaughter, April; and her brother, Eugene 
							Hickey.
 
 In 1946, while still a high school student, she went 
							to work for Illinois Commercial Telephone Company as 
							an operator. She retired from the successor company, 
							General Telephone Company, in 1983. She was a member 
							and past President of the American Legion Post #263 
							Auxiliary.

							After retirement, Jo and Bob spent 
							twenty sunny winters at Ft. Myers Beach, FL. She 
							loved listening to Elvis. Her biggest joys were her 
							family and dancing with “Elvis” at both her 90th and 
							95th birthday parties.
 A funeral mass for Jo will be held at 11:00 am on 
							Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic 
							Church in Lincoln. Visitation will take place one 
							hour prior from 10:00 - 11:00 am, also at the 
							church. Burial will follow the service at Holy Cross 
							Cemetery in Lincoln. Memorials may be made in Jo’s 
							name to the American Legion Post #263 or Holy Family 
							Food Pantry. Arrangements have been entrusted to 
							Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
 
 Jo’s family would like to thank the St Clara’s staff 
							on Cedar and Mahogany for the wonderful care they 
							gave their mother.
