Railsplitters defeat Heyworth 5-3

[May 08, 2025]   The Lincoln Railsplitters defeated Heyworth 5-3 on Wednesday at Mike Curry Field. 

 

Parker Graue earned the win for Lincoln and he led the offense by going 2-for-3 at the plate. Graue drove in two runs.

On the mound, Graue worked six innings, surrendering ten hits and three runs. He walked one and struck out two.

Austin Lucas earned the save. He worked the final inning, recording one strikeout.

Ashton Corley led off the game with a triple and he came home to score on a single by Drew Hayes, as Lincoln jumped in front 1-0 in the first inning.

Lincoln plated four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Graue’s two-run single was the highlight of the inning. Kyle Koehler also added an RBI single. Karson Komnick had a single in the inning and Corley and Lucas each walked, giving Lincoln another run.

The 5-0 lead held strong until the fourth inning, when the Hornets got on the board with a run. Heyworth would also score a run in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Hornets got their first two runners on base to start the seventh inning. The 5-3 lead was threatened when Graue was relieved by Lucas. Lucas went on to strikeout the next batter and induce groundouts for the final two outs.

Lincoln held on for the 5-3 win, improving their record to 8-14 on the season.

The Railsplitters will play at Peoria Notre Dame today at 4:30 p.m.
