Railsplitters shutout Wildcats 6-0

[May 08, 2025]  The offense was clicking for Lincoln on Wednesday afternoon as the team pounded out 12 hits en route to 6-0 shutout over the Normal West Wildcats.  

 

Lincoln started their half of the first inning with consecutive singles by Grey Gilbert, Morgan Sheley and Regan Kutz, scoring two runs in the process.

Gilbert drove in a run in the second inning to extend the lead to 3-0.

Madisen Wurth and Emma Hutchison singled in the fourth inning as Lincoln took a 4-0 lead.

Kutz started the fifth inning with a double and after Kelsey Marten homered to left, the Railsplitters lead was 6-0. Lily Holmes also added a bunt single in the inning.

Madisen Wurth got the win for Lincoln. Wurth tossed the complete game shutout, allowing just three hits. She walked one and struck out five. Wurth threw just 78 pitches and 52 were strikes.

Grey Gilbert and Regan Kutz each led Lincoln’s offense with three hits.

Gilbert was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Kutz was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Madisen Wurth was 2-for-3.

Morgan Sheley, Kelsey Marten, Lily Holmes and Emma Hutchison each had one hit.

Lincoln improved their record to 11-13 on the season.
