Railsplitters crush four home runs
vs. Clinton
Corley's grand slam a highlight
[May 12, 2025]
The trio of Ashton Corley, Jadyn Gulley and Parker Graue
one-upped the Railsplitters previous home run performance in Friday
night’s 13-8 win over Clinton.
It was just Thursday night that the Railsplitters hit three home
runs versus Peoria Notre Dame in an 8-7 victory. Gulley, Corley and
Drew Hayes each homered that night.
A quick turnaround into Friday night showed that the Railsplitter’s
bats had not cooled off whatsoever.
In the top of the second inning Gulley blasted a two-run shot to
center field that tied the game 2-2. Graue was on base via a walk
that started the inning.
In the top of the third inning, Kane Komnick led off with a walk and
this time it was Corley coming through with a two-run homer to left
to put Lincoln on top 4-2.
In the bottom of the third inning the Maroons tied the game on a
two-run double.

Clinton led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a home run and
added two more runs in the inning to take a 7-4 lead.
Lincoln had a huge sixth inning, plating six runs that featured one
amazing highlight: a grand slam by Corley.
Lincoln had already scored two runs thanks to an error and a bases
loaded walk when Corley settled into the batter’s box with two outs
and all the ducks on the pond. Corley connected on a 2-0 pitch and
sent it over the right field fence for a grand slam, giving Lincoln
a 10-7 edge.
Clinton was able to get one run back in the bottom of the sixth
inning and heading into the seventh inning the Railsplitters were
ready to tack on some more runs.
Drew Hayes got the inning going with a double to right and this time
it was Graue swinging for the fences and sending one out in center
field. Graue’s two-run blast gave Lincoln a 12-8 lead and gave the
Railsplitters their fourth home run of the game. Lincoln’s Kyle
Koehler scored one more run in the game thanks to a balk and the
Railsplitters traveled home 13-8 winners.
The win was no. 10 on the season for Lincoln.
[to top of second column] |

Carson Fuiten earned the win for the Railsplitters. He worked three
innings in relief, allowing two runs on six hits. Only one run was
earned. He struck out two batters.
Kane Komnick started the game for Lincoln. He worked four innings,
giving up seven hits and six runs. Only four runs were earned. He
walked two and struck out four.
Ashton Corley’s performance from the lead-off position was
impressive: 2-for-4 with two runs scored on his own two home runs
and six RBIs.
Parker Graue was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Graue had a sensational weekend by the way. He was the Valedictorian
of the Class of 2025 for Lincoln Community High School and he gave
one tremendous graduation speech on Saturday. Like his home run, he
really knocked it out of the park. It was reflective, yet
light-hearted and delivered with such poise. Graue is truly an
outstanding public speaker. He was very genuine at the podium and
seemed so comfortable in front of that packed gymnasium. And how can
you not love a guy who ends his speech quoting Ferris Bueller?
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a
while, you could miss it,” said Graue to conclude his speech. Wise
words quoted from a movie that hit the theaters in 1986. Graue’s
parents had to barely be out of diapers back then.
Back to the stats, it was Drew Hayes, Jadyn Gulley, Karson Komnick
and Owen Comstock each with one hit to help Lincoln to victory.
Lincoln will look to add to their current four-game winning streak
today as they travel to Rantoul to take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
