Railsplitters cruise past Generals 10-0

[May 14, 2025]  Even before the game started on Tuesday, Lincoln had a great opportunity for a victory with Parker Graue on the mound.

“He’s had a fantastic season,” said Coach August Casson of Graue. “He’s a guy we have a lot of trust in on the mound.”

Graue did not disappoint. The senior tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out seven batters over four and two-thirds innings. He did not walk a single batter. Graue improved his record to 3-4 with a 2.57 era.

Graue had great support from his offense.

Ashton Corley was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Austin Lucas was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Jadyn Gulley was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Owen Comstock was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

In the first inning the Railsplitters got on the board thanks to Graue himself batting in a run on a fielder’s choice.

The third inning was the Railers big inning, as five runs crossed home plate. The Generals committed three errors in the inning that aided Lincoln’s run production. But singles by Corley and Lucas and a triple by Gulley sure helped Lincoln run the score to 6-0 in a hurry.

Corley and Lucas would single again in the fourth inning, helping the Railers to another run. Bases loaded walks to Komnick and Comstock put Lincoln up 9-0 in the inning.

Drew Hayes and Parker Graue each got hit by pitches in the fifth inning. The Generals continued to be unpredictable on the mound, throwing wild pitches here and there, advancing runners and eventually allowing another run.

Lincoln’s 10-0 lead was not at all threatened in the bottom of the fifth inning, even as a single was surrendered with two outs. Tate Aue came in the game to retire the last General batter on a ground out.

Game over as Lincoln improved their record to 11-14.

The Railsplitters will play at Pleasant Plains today at 4:30 p.m.
