Lincoln beats Richwoods 10-9 on Gulley’s walk-off

[May 19, 2025]  Jadyn Gulley’s single to right with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning on Friday night gave Lincoln a 10-9 win over Peoria Richwoods.

Gulley was 2-for-4 in the game with two RBIs and a run scored.

Austin Lucas, who led off the seventh inning with a base hit and scored the winning run, was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Ashton Corley stayed hot with another home run, his seventh of the season. Corley was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Tate Aue earned the win for Lincoln. Aue threw one pitch in the top of the seventh inning, retiring the batter on a line out to second. That might be the easiest win Aue will ever get in his career.

Richwoods scored twice in the top of the first inning off Lincoln starter Carson Fuiten.

The Railsplitters scored eight runs on six hits in the bottom of the first inning, with Corley doing damage right off the bat. Corley led off the game with a double to left and scored when Austin Lucas hit a single to center. Corley came up to bat later in the inning and crushed a home run to right with Owen Comstock on base. In between Corley’s at-bats, three runners scored on errors and Gulley hit an RBI double and Griffin Shaw hit an RBI single.

Kyle Koehler’s RBI double in the third inning scored Brady Miller to make the score 9-2.

The Knights chased Fuiten from the mound in the top of the fourth inning and he was replaced by Parker Graue. When it was all said and done in the inning, the Knights had plated seven runs to tie the game. Three doubles, two singles and a triple led the Knights rally. Lucky for Lincoln the three outs in the inning were by strikeouts and the game remained 9-9 for the next two and a half innings.

[to top of second column]

Gulley’s heroics could not have been possible without Austin Lucas leading off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single to left. Lucas stole second during a strikeout by Drew Hayes and then he went to third on a ground out by Graue. Gulley put the bat on the ball on an 0-2 pitch and sent it to right field for the game winner.

Lincoln had nine hits versus twelve hits by the Knights.

The Knights committed three errors. Lincoln committed one error.

Carson Fuiten pitched three and one-third innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs. He walked three and struck out three.

Parker Graue pitched three and one-third innings, allowing four hits and two runs. Only one run was earned. He walked one and struck out six.

Lincoln (13-15) will host Decatur MacArthur Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
