Service:  A private graveside service for Dorothy will be held at Wiley Cemetery in Colfax, IL.

Dorothy J. DeVore, 91, passed away at home with her family on Monday, May 19, 2025.

Dorothy was born on July 20, 1933, in Arrowsmith, IL. Her parents were Julius and Katherine (Greiner) Miller Sr. She had four siblings, Mary Scheets, Julius Miller Jr., Richard Miller, and Raymond Miller, all preceded her in death. Dorothy married Kenneth W. DeVore on September 12, 1954, in Colfax, IL. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2010.

Dorothy is survived by one son, Christopher (Diane) and two grandsons, Josh and Alex. She had been living with them for the past nine years in Atlanta, IL.

Dorothy graduated from Octavia High School in Colfax in 1951 and Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. All her 39 years in nursing care were spent in supervisory and administration positions. She retired from Mennonite College of Nursing in 1998 as their alumni Director.

She and her husband came from large families. There were always activities and reunions. Her family and friends were very important to her. She will be missed. There were two special people that were her classmates that provided help and love to her, June Forbes and Mary Punke.

Dorothy was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church since 1971.

A private graveside service for Dorothy will be held at Wiley Cemetery in Colfax, IL. Memorials may be made in Dorothy’s name to The Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
