Komnick threw the complete five-inning game,
allowing three hits and two runs. Only one run was earned.
Komnick struck out five batters.
The Lions scored a run in each of the first two innings before
the Railsplitters cut loose for seven runs in the bottom of the
second inning.
Griffin Shaw led off the Railers second inning with a double.
After Komnick walked, Lincoln loaded the bases on a bunt single
by Owen Comstock. Kyle Koehler walked to force in the first
Railsplitters run. Ashton Corley cleared the bases with a
double, putting Lincoln in front 4-2. Austin Lucas added an RBI
double to run the score up. Drew Hayes followed with a triple to
score another run. After Parker Graue’s ground out scored
another run, Lincoln was on top 7-2.
The Railsplitters needed just one more big inning to put the
Lions away and they got the job done in the bottom of the fourth
inning. Lincoln scored six runs on five hits in the fourth
inning to take a 13-2 lead. Shaw and Lucas came through with RBI
doubles and Hayes added an RBI single. Jadyn Gulley and Koehler
also had singles in the inning.
Komnick cruised through the fifth inning and Lincoln’s win over
Lanphier improved their regular season record to 15-16.
A trio of Railsplitters recorded multi-hits.
Griffin Shaw was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Drew Hayes was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Austin Lucas was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs.
Ashton Corley, Jadyn Gulley, Owen Comstock and Kyle Koehler each
had one hit.
Lincoln will play Champaign Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday
night in the Champaign Central regional semifinal.
