LCHS boys head to state track and field

[May 30, 2025]  This weekend it’s senior Parker Campbell leading a group of young athletes to the IHSA Class 2A Boys State Track and Field Championships at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.   

 

Joining Campbell are sophomores Owen Cyrulik and Colin Crombie and freshmen Pierce King and Henry Stoltzenburg.

Campbell is making his second trip to State. He just missed qualifying for State his freshman year and he was injured his sophomore year. In his junior year, Campbell placed fifth at State in the 110m hurdles.

Campbell will be running the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles.

At the IHSA Class 2A TRG Sectional last Wednesday in Metamora Campbell placed first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.69 and he was second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 39.65. His time in the 300m hurdles was a PR.

Cyrulik, Crombie, King and Stoltzenburg will be running in the 4x800m relay.

These boys finished in first place at the sectional meet with a time of 8:03.07. Their PR is 8:02.

King was a Class 1A state champion in the 800m his eighth grade year. He also placed second in the 1600m as an eighth grader.

Cyrulik will also run the 800m. He qualified for State with a time of 1:57.64, a new PR for him. He finished in fourth place at the sectional meet.

The Prelims get underway today with the finals scheduled for Saturday.
