Obituary
Martha Rae (Babbs)
Evans, 83, of Mt. Pulaski, formerly of Lincoln,
passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at
Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Martha was born August 9, 1942, in Marcus, IA, the
daughter of Arthur Edward and Maudie Beth (Blunt)
Tracy. She married James Babbs in 1957. Together
they had five children, and then later divorced.
Martha married Erwin Leistner in 1995, they were
together until he passed away in 2010. She married
Steven Evans in 2014; he passed away in 2020.
Martha is survived by her children, Donald “Donnie”
(Cindy) Babbs and Barbara Babbs and stepson, Jon (Malissa)
Leistner. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren,
19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren,
and by her loving pomsky and dog companion,
“Minion”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband, Steven; children, Darrin, Fred, and James
Babbs; granddaughter, Rachelle Babbs;
great-granddaughter, RaLynn Babbs; and sister, Mary
Hall. |

Martha worked for Lehn
and Fink for twenty-eight years and later for K’s
Merchandise for seven years. She was an avid viewer
of her favorite show “Gunsmoke”. Martha enjoyed
watching the wildlife in her backyard. She liked
dancing, karate, roller-skating, and snow sledding
(even in her 60’s and 70’s). Most of all, Martha’s
family was everything to her, and she spent time
with them making memories.
Funeral Services for
Martha will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday,
November 15, 2025, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln with Ron Otto officiating.
Visitation will take place two hours prior to the
service from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm also at the
funeral home. Burial will follow at New Union
Cemetery in Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be made in Martha’s memory to the American
Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
