Obituary
Rev. Rollie C. Brooks, 101, passed
away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in Weatherford,
Texas.
Graveside service: A private interment will be held
at Dicey Cemetery, Weatherford.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent
to Clearfork Baptist Church, 100 Ragle Road,
Weatherford, Texas, 76087.
Rollie was born November 16, 1924 in Bowling Green,
Kentucky to Oakley and Nona Ruth (Hudnall) Brooks.
At the age of 8, his family moved to Lincoln,
Illinois. He attended Lincoln Community High School.
Rollie furthered his education at Valparaiso
Technical Institute in Valparaiso, Indiana, Southern
Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and the
University of Illinois in Springfield, Illinois.
Rollie pastored churches in Indiana, Illinois,
Arizona, and Texas. He is the former pastor of Clear
Fork Baptist Church in Weatherford. He also spent
nearly 30 years with Illinois State Police
Communications, where he served as a statewide
Communication System Administrator.
Rollie served 4 years in the United States Navy as a
radio operator on the LST-309, participating in the
invasions at Sicily, Normandy, and in the Pacific
Theater. His ship was at Omaha Beach on D-Day, June
6, 1944
Rollie was married to Marcella (Board) for 76 years
until her death in 2022. They were married on April
27, 1946.
He is preceded in death by his wife; his son,
Thomas; his parents; and his sisters, Ruth and
Erlene.
Survivors: He is survived by 4 of his 5 children,
William Douglas Brooks (Linda) of Lincoln, Illinois,
Elisabeth (Betsy) Warren of Sanger, Texas, Susan
Adams (Billy) of Aledo, Texas, and John Brooks
(Christine) of Boca Raton; 12 grandchildren; and 13
great- grandchildren. |
