Obituary

Billie Jean Foster, 78, of Manhattan, IL, formerly of Lincoln, IL, and Tinley Park, IL, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL.

Billie Jean was born on November 22, 1946, in Lincoln, IL, the daughter of Roy and Marjorie (Heinzel) Slack.

Billie Jean is survived by her children, Tom (Carrie Gautsche) Leith, Stacey Kabiri, and Miranda (Joseph) Bzdyl; and her grandchildren, Noah and Henry Leith, Nicholas and Kelsey Kabiri, and Madeline, Christian, and Gabriel Bzdyl. She is also survived by brothers, Lloyd Slack, Myron (Gladys Stacey) Slack, David (Sandy) Slack, and Dan Slack; nephew, Corey; nieces, Amber (Alexis) Rogers, Jennifer (Greg) Hennington, Chelsie (Adam) Campbell, Kasey (Bubba) Cook, Jessie Slack, Cara (Erik) Knecht, and Kimberly Coletto; as well as many great-nephews and great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law, Gail Slack; her nephew, Christopher Slack; her great-niece, Isabella Cook; and her friend, Jeannie Winebrinner.

Billie Jean was a cook at Tinley Park Mental Center and the Lincoln Development Center throughout her career and loved volunteering at My Joyful Heart in Mokena, IL. She was also an avid painter, loved going to church, and studying the Bible.

She greatly enjoyed traveling abroad and to small-town midwestern wineries, especially with friends, Sandy and Shirley, and spending as much time as possible with her immediate and extended family. Her grandchildren were the light in her eyes, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. Her quick-wit, sass, love of a good time, and ability to find joy and humor in most any situation will never be forgotten.

Services for Billie Jean will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service (12:00 pm - 2:00 pm) also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln, IL. Memorial donations may be made in Billie Jean’s name to My Joyful Heart in Mokena, IL, (9981 W. 190th Street Suite I-J Mokena, IL, 60448).
