The pink shirt pictures for today, Thursday, October 16th, include the wonderful staff at the Comfort Inn and Suites and the Hampton Inn in Lincoln.

We’re going to borrow a word from one of these motels to talk about breast cancer. The word is “comfort.”

When battling breast cancer comfort can be hard to find, both physically and emotionally. While there are plenty of people in your life who want to hold you help and help you stay strong, you sometimes want to shed tears, scream, stomp your feet or in other words just get mad!

It’s understandable. It is also understandable that you don’t want to display that kind of emotional response in front of your family because you don’t want to frighten them or make them worry more than they already are.

Did you know that the American Cancer Society offers online chat rooms for cancer warriors? There you can express your anxieties and get reassurance that you are not alone in how you feel. Getting those feelings out is healthy. Log on, start a chat and find out just how much better it feels when you can digitally scream and know the other people in the room understand why you did it.
