Mount Pulaski teams win 2025 Leroy Invitational Tournament

[September 08, 2025]  Both the Mount Pulaski Varsity and JV volleyball teams won the Leroy Invitational Tournament over the weekend.

The Varsity went 3-0 to capture the title while the JV team finished 2-1 to win first place.

The Varsity team defeated Delavan in two sets on Saturday morning, 25-12 and 25-11.

Aly Murphy had 16 assists and 7 digs.

Ella Martin led the Toppers with 6 kills and 3 aces.

Olivia Smith and Elayna Marten each had 5 kills.

Marten also had 8 digs.

Mount Pulaski then defeated Unity Christian 25-11, 20-25 and 15-10.

Murphy had 17 assists and 3 aces.

Smith led the team with 8 kills.

Martin had 4 kills and 10 digs.

Audrey Cooper had 22 digs.

Addison Brown served 3 aces.

In the final game of the afternoon Mount Pulaski beat Leroy 17-25, 25-15 and 15-12.

Murphy had 18 assists and 10 digs.

Smith and Martin each had 8 kills.

Martin added 3 aces.

Cooper had 9 digs.

Mount Pulaski improved their record to 6-3 on the season.

JV
The JV team lost to Delavan in two close sets, 25-23 and 25-22, to start the day on Saturday.

The JV then bounced back to defeat Unity Christian 27-25 and 25-18.

To finish the day, Mount Pulaski beat Leroy 25-18, 22-25 and 15-9.

Mount Pulaski coach Emma Aper had every reason to be pleased with her teams on Saturday.

“The girls played exceptional defense,” said Aper. “It’s obvious that they are bought into continuing to improve and play at high levels every single day. I have seen a lot of volleyball but some of the plays they make are unbelievable! We talk daily about creating a team-focused culture and they are doing a great job with that.”

Mount Pulaski will play at Warrensburg-Latham on Tuesday.

The JV game will start at 6:00 p.m.

The Varsity will follow at 7:00 p.m.
