Lincoln Daily News
welcomes letters of appreciation, information and
opinion on matters pertaining to the community.
Controversial issues:
As a
community we need to be able to talk openly about
matters that affect the quality of our lives. The
most effective and least offensive manner to get
your point across is to stick to the issue
and refrain from commenting on another person's
opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the
issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

The evening before the assassin of Charlie Kirk was
arrested Laura Ingraham on her broadcast (Ingraham Angle) repeatedly
asked “why” anyone would choose to murder him? What could be their
motive? No answer to that question will ever satisfy.
Rationalization, excuses, alibis etc. are never adequate to explain.
The reason is; EVIL IS ALWAYS BIGGER THAN THE POWER TO EXPLAIN IT!
Often psychiatrists will conclude that some crimes are so
unspeakably cruel and the brutality so incomprehensible that the
perp must “just be evil.” The sciences of human behavior have no
term big enough. Therefore they borrow one from the Judeo/Christian
vocabulary. The “bible” of psychiatry is the DSM V. The term “evil”
is nowhere in it. “Evil” is not a psychological term. It is a
religious one. In 48 years of teaching clinical psychology at
undergraduate and graduate schools I never found the term in any
psych textbook. Rather “Evil” occurs 454 times in the Bible.
I consider it a serious mistake to call such criminals “sick.” This
implies the need for medications and talk therapy instead of
penalty. Assassins are not sick they are more likely sociopaths. A
sociopath has a SOCIAL disorder not a mental one. It is a character
deficit. It is who they are. Consequently it is a behavior very
resistant to treatment, likely to repeat, and someone skilled at
projecting blame on others. The World Health Organization has
determined over half of the world’s leaders are sociopaths. They are
without empathy or conscience.

This all should raise our concern regarding those
among us who work to overthrow our government. This is the very
definition of high treason. Treason is the only crime in the United
States constitution which qualifies for the death penalty. We live
in perilous times and moral restraint has never been more greatly
indicated then now. The council of Rudyard Kipling to his son
applies: If you can keep your head when all about you are losing
theirs and blaming it on you ( … ultimately) you’ll be a man my son.
