Lincolnland Technical Education Center (LTEC) is
proud to announce Deitrick Hamblen, son of Sara Koehne, as the
Rotary Club Student of the Month for September. He was nominated by
Mr. Donnie Bowman, his Workplace Learning instructor, for his
dedication, work ethic, and enthusiasm for learning.
Deitrick enrolled in LTEC’s Workplace Learning program to gain
hands-on experience while still in high school and to be able to
leave school early each day to begin his career. He has taken
several career-focused courses at LTEC, including Advanced Metals,
Automotive Technology, and Criminal Justice. Currently, he is
receiving on-the-job training working on semis and trailers, and he
plans to continue in this role after graduation. His long-term goal
is to work in the diesel industry and expand his family’s farming
operation.
Outside of the classroom and workplace, Deitrick is actively
involved in extracurricular activities. He is a member of the trap
shooting team and serves as the Treasurer of his school’s FFA
chapter. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and raising
pigs, cows, chickens and ducks.
Mr. Bowman praised his student, stating, "Deitrick is the perfect
example of what our Workplace Learning program is all about. He’s
found a career path he enjoys, is gaining real-world experience, and
is already building a future for himself. He sets a great example
for other students by showing that with hard work and passion, you
can start working toward your goals right now."
