Obituary
Gregory E. Riesselman,
78, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Thursday, August
6, 2026, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Greg was born on September 8, 1947, in Burlington,
IA, the son of Ralph and Cora (Mapson) Riesselman,
Sr. He married Bess McGee on April 8, 1989, in
Lincoln, IL. She survives.
Greg is also survived by his children, Kelly (Chuck
Wilkinson) Riesselman, Keith Riesselman, Cari (Dan)
Nystrom, Heather (Aaron) Johnston; grandchildren,
Grace, Blair, Meara, Hilde, Zoey, and Charlie;
special niece, Diana Johnston; and his beloved pet
chow, Maisie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters,
Shirley Gregory and Delpha Terrell; and brothers,
Blaine, Gordon, Lance, Ralph Riesselman Jr., and
Robert Mapson. Greg was the last of his immediate
family. |
Greg proudly served in
the US Air Force, working in plane and engine
maintenance. He was stationed in a number of places
including Guam and Hawaii. During his younger years,
Greg was very active in sports including basketball,
slow pitch softball, and baseball; earning him the
nickname “Caveman”.
Funeral services for Greg will be held at 11:00 am
on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Visitation will take place two hours prior from 9:00
- 11:00 am, also at the funeral home. Burial will
follow the service at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made in Greg’s name to the American
Legion Post #263.
