Lady Railers start new year off with a 53-31 win over Limestone

[January 06, 2026]  The Lady Railers swept the Limestone Rockets on Monday night at Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium.

The JV team won 36-22 with Sage Gilbert pouring in 14 points and Elizabeth Chen scoring 13 points.

The Varsity team won 53-31 over the Rockets.

Mia Clark, who just committed to Parkland College to play basketball, led the Varsity team with 22 points.

Mesa McCloud made five 3s and a free throw for 16 points in the Varsity game.

McCloud recently committed to Lewis and Clark to play basketball along with fellow senior, Grace Schneider.

Congratulations to all these three girls for committing to play at the next level.

First quarter
Mesa McCloud and Mia Clark were the duo who dropped 3s to start the Lincoln scoring against the Rockets, driving the Lady Railers to a 6-1 lead. The Lady Railers then went 4-for-6 from the line to build a 10-3 lead. Paisley Holmes earned herself an assist on a great pass to Grace Bivin to complete the Lincoln scoring in the first quarter. Lincoln was on top 12-3 with the younger Holmes getting the start and finishing the quarter with a couple free throws, a steal and the assist.

Second quarter
Clark’s free throw to lead off the second quarter gave Lincoln a double-digit lead and after Grace Schneider’s bank shot in the lane the Lady Railers were up 15-5. Paisley Holmes made a jumper that allowed Lincoln to increase the lead and with McCloud and Clark continuing to hit 3s, the Lady Railers took a 23-15 advantage at the half.

Third quarter
Clark and Holmes led the team to a 28-15 score as the third quarter got underway. The Rockets put together a 7-0 run that kept Lincoln on the alert. McCloud finally came through with a much needed three-pointer but the Rockets always had an answer in Michaela Pilgrim. The score was trimmed to 33-28 when at the buzzer Clark threw up a half-court shot that went in and made the crowd really come alive. Lincoln’s lead was 36-28 thanks to Clark’s buzzer-beater.

Fourth quarter
Lincoln opened the fourth quarter on a roll. A quick 10-0 run was fun for the Lady Railers. McCloud’s three got the party started and after Clark hit two free throws, McCloud drained another three. Clark added a two-point field goal and the Rockets were in a deep hole, down 46-28. Bivin’s 4-for-4 performance at the free throw line and Clark’s bucket and the ‘and one’ allowed Lincoln to win by a final score of 53-31.

The Lady Railers improved to 12-4 on the season.

Lincoln will host a very good Pleasant Plains team on Wednesday night. The JV game will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Varsity will tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
