Obituary
Gary Alton Hilton, age
81, of Lincoln, IL., passed away peacefully on
January 14th 2026.
Gary was born on June
24, 1944, in Champaign country to Alton C Hinton and
Marjorie Barrett. He lived a life marked by faith,
friends, service, hard work, and kindness.
He was known for his smile, and those who knew him
will remember him driving around Lincoln in his 1996
red Cadillac. Gary was a lifetime dental prosthetist.
Gary was a devoted friend and took great joy in
building relationships. He was a member of First
United Methodist Church, Lincoln, IL, where he
faithfully participated in all the activities and
his life reflected a quiet but steady faith.
He is survived by his brother Merold L. Hinton of
Fisher, IL, sister Joan Lanet Pruett of AZ. Gary was
preceded in death by his parents.
A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held on
Tuesday, January 20th at Lincoln First United
Methodist, with Reverend Dr. Binu Peniel
officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until
11:00 AM with the Memorial services following at 11
AM. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First
United Methodist Church, Lincoln, Illinois. We give
thanks to God for Gary’s life and commend him into
God’s loving care, trusting in the promise of
eternal life through Jesus Christ. |
