Obituary
Marlene John, 71,
of Lincoln, passed away June 11, 2026 at Decatur
Memorial Hospital. Cremation rites have been
accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A
celebration of life will be held June 18, 2026 at
Open Arms Church. A time of visitation will be from
12 Noon to 12:30.
Marlene was born February 22, 1955, in Taylorville,
IL., the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Davis)
Brown-Bennett. She married Alan John May 18, 1984.
He preceded her in death on March 18, 2013.
She was a faithful member of Open Arms Church and
enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Marlene worked for Lehn and Fink for more than 20
years. |
Survivors include her
daughters Nikki Edwards of Springfield and Amy
John-Chapman (Matthew) of Lincoln; grandchildren
Austin Harris and Maggie Chapman; brother George
Brown of Decatur, sister Linda Jones of Springfield;
and canine companions MJ, Chloe, and feline
companion Topaz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her
husband Alan.
