Lincoln was able to jump in front 2-1 in the top of the fourth
inning. After one out, Addy Mahler reached on an error, Sage
Gilbert singled and Norah Block walked. Mahler scored after Kate
Farnam popped out in foul territory. Gilbert also scored to give
Lincoln a lead after Preslee Sherren singled to right.
In the bottom of the fifth inning the Cardinals got the lead
back on a two-run single by Abby Andricks.
The Cardinals 3-2 lead was solid until the top of the seventh
inning when Emma Hutchison led off with a double. Hutchison was
able to advance to third on an error and she scored on a single
to center by Grey Gilbert. After Gilbert stole second she was
able to score the go-ahead run on a double to center by Laurynn
Mayberry.
Norah Block pitched a terrific game for Lincoln, including a
masterful seventh inning. Block retired the side on just five
pitches. The first pitch induced a fly out. The second pitch
induced a pop out. And the remaining three pitches were strikes.
Block allowed seven hits over seven innings of work. She allowed
just one earned run and struck out six batters while earning the
second win of the season.
Kelsey Oakley was the losing pitcher for the Cardinals, who
committed five errors.
Lincoln’s six hits on the day came from Grey Gilbert, Sage
Gilbert, Laurynn Mayberry, Kate Farnam, Preslee Sherren and Emma
Hutchison.
