Lady Railers beat Cardinals 4-3

[March 21, 2026 The Lincoln Lady Railers softball team came from behind late in the game to defeat the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals 4-3 on Friday afternoon in Warrensburg.
 
The Cardinals scored a run in the second inning on a triple and a wild pitch.    

 

Lincoln was able to jump in front 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning. After one out, Addy Mahler reached on an error, Sage Gilbert singled and Norah Block walked. Mahler scored after Kate Farnam popped out in foul territory. Gilbert also scored to give Lincoln a lead after Preslee Sherren singled to right.

In the bottom of the fifth inning the Cardinals got the lead back on a two-run single by Abby Andricks.

The Cardinals 3-2 lead was solid until the top of the seventh inning when Emma Hutchison led off with a double. Hutchison was able to advance to third on an error and she scored on a single to center by Grey Gilbert. After Gilbert stole second she was able to score the go-ahead run on a double to center by Laurynn Mayberry.

Norah Block pitched a terrific game for Lincoln, including a masterful seventh inning. Block retired the side on just five pitches. The first pitch induced a fly out. The second pitch induced a pop out. And the remaining three pitches were strikes. Block allowed seven hits over seven innings of work. She allowed just one earned run and struck out six batters while earning the second win of the season.

Kelsey Oakley was the losing pitcher for the Cardinals, who committed five errors.

Lincoln’s six hits on the day came from Grey Gilbert, Sage Gilbert, Laurynn Mayberry, Kate Farnam, Preslee Sherren and Emma Hutchison.

Lincoln (2-0) will play at Tremont today at 10:00 a.m.
