Metamora defeats Railsplitters 12-3

The Lincoln Railsplitters fell behind early to the Metamora
Redbirds on Friday afternoon at Mike Curry Field and the visitors
ended up cruising to a 12-3 win.
The Redbirds chased Lincoln starter Grady Rutledge from the mound
after one and one-third innings. The Redbirds scored six runs on
three hits off Rutledge. He walked four batters and exited the mound
in the second inning. Tate Aue came in to pitch in relief.
Metamora scored two runs in the first inning and plated four more
runs in the second inning.
Lincoln scored two runs in the third inning.
Karson Komnick was hit by a pitch and Austin Lucas, Grady Rutledge
and Owen Comstock each singled to get the Railsplitters on the
board. Komnick’s run came after a passed ball and Lucas scored on
Comstock’s hit.
An RBI triple by Cole Smith and a two-run homer by Brady Jones in
the sixth inning helped Metamora increase the lead to 9-2.
The Redbirds added an RBI single in the top of the seventh inning
and scored two more runs on an error by the Railsplitters.
Lucas led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and he scored
later in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Bryce Vlahovich.

Tate Aue pitched four innings in relief for
Lincoln. He gave up seven hits and three runs. He walked one and
struck out one.
Brett Hayes took the mound for the final inning and
two-thirds. He allowed two hits and three runs. He walked three and
struck out one.
Cooper Weyant was the winning pitcher for Metamora.
Metamora’s third baseman, Cole Smith, was 4-for-5 with five RBIs and
three runs scored.
Lincoln was led by Austin Lucas at the plate. He was 2-for-4 with
two runs scored.
Lincoln (14-8) will host Sacred Heart-Griffin on Tuesday at 4:30
p.m. |
