Railsplitters top Lanphier 5-3

[May 23, 2026]  The Lincoln Railsplitters defeated the Lanphier Lions 5-3 Friday afternoon at Mike Curry Field.
 
Kane Komnick and his older brother, Karson, were both key factors in the win.

 

Kane Komnick started the game and pitched six and one-third innings while earning the win. He allowed seven hits and three runs. He walked one batter and struck out ten.

Karson Komnick hit a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning that put Lincoln up for good in the game.

The Lions scored all three of their runs in the top of the first inning as they recorded four hits, two of which were extra-base hits.

Lincoln broke through with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Grady Rutledge’s sacrifice fly drove in Kane Komnick and Owen Comstock’s grounder to second allowed Karson Komnick to score.

Chase March reached base on an error to lead off the fourth inning for Lincoln. After a fielder’s choice by Tate Aue, Cooper Koehler singled to center. With two outs Karson Komnick’s double to center scored Aue and Koehler to make the score 4-3.

March hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Lincoln a 5-3 lead.

Brett Hayes relieved Kane Komnick on the mound in the seventh inning and he retired the final two batters on seven pitches. Hayes earned the save.

Chase March and Cooper Koehler led Lincoln at the plate with two hits apiece.

Lincoln (22-9) will host Williamsville Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
