The first Pink Shirt photo for today includes the multiple agencies in Logan County that represent Edward Jones investment services. Thank you to Chase Lowery, Sal Pollice, Christine Short, Jim Sparrow and their staff for being a part of this year’s Paint the Paper Pink campaign in recognition of our local breast cancer warriors.

The second photo is the staff at Timbercrest Veterinary services in Atlanta. These are the fine folks who keep our pets and even our livestock healthy and happy.

We want to zero in on those vets to talk to you about your pets. Animals have a sixth sense that seems to tell them when all is not right with their people. They will sometimes become extra cuddly or watchful and seem to be sympathizing when we don’t feel well. This can be very comforting for us when we are under the weather.

When battling cancer of any kind, depression can be a part of the problem, and it can hinder the recovery. If you have a pet that wants to comfort you, let it, it is good for you and it both. Let’s face it, a dog kiss or a kitty hug can go a long way in brightening someone’s day. And animals are also good listeners because they seldom argue with you!

If you have a loved one who is battling and they have a pet, see what you can do to help care for that pet so that it in turn can help care for your loved one.
