Up Up and Away race
Safety was of the upmost importance and
the Lincoln Fire Department provided cars
to block the race course and volunteers
with signs to alert drivers to the presence
of runners. Jackie Pavlik of the Park
District patrolled the route on her bike
to make sure all of the participants were
doing well.
The final group in the Art of Wine and
Brew Big Top on Saturday evening was
Cousin Eddie from Peoria. Their tight
harmonies, remarkable musicianship and
terrific play list was a hit with the overflow
crowd. It’s not often a band does a cover
of Buffalo Springfield’s 60’s anthem “For
What Its Worth.” It was like being in a
time machine.
Seth Goodman inflated his balloon before
the race in the Park District’s parking lot to
mark one of the closing events of the 2014
Lincoln Art and Balloon Fest.
It was a terrific weekend, the Lincoln
Festival’s finest.
O
ver 50 runners took part in the annual Lincoln Park
District Up Up & Away 5-K Run and Walk on a
beautiful Sunday morning on the last day of the Art and
Balloon Fest. The race course started at the Park District
and traveled on Wyatt Avenue to Home Avenue and then
to the end of Home and back.
