Page 16 2020 Hometown HEROES Magazine LINCOLN DAILY NEWS May 14, 2020 T he pandemic has had a huge impact on many of our small businesses throughout the county. This is a time of uncertainty for all as we deal with the loss of revenues due to forced closures or restrictions. At LDN, our greatest hope and desire is that we will all be able to bounce back. But for now, our personal goal has been to do what we can to keep the community informed about who is open and how to reach out to those businesses that are trying to operate under new and unusual circumstances. When the stay at home orders were issued by our governor, LDN staff began almost immediately putting together information about businesses still able to operate, specifically our local family restaurants. Within that first week, LDN posted the new “Business/Restaurant Information Station.” Staff began by reaching out to all the eateries and asking for information. Businesses were assured that what was being put together was a free service to help them get the word out about what they were doing. That first focus was on helping readers know what restaurants were doing and how they could still do business with their favorites. As soon as that was up and running it was on to other businesses and sharing their information. LDN invited all businesses to contact us and we started s haring the big picture of who was open a nd who was not. Our staff kept calling ever y two weeks so we could keep the public aware of changes taking place in the marketplace. A few of our eateries had to close their doors while they re-grouped and figured out how to accommodate the new permitted pick-up or curbside sales. COMMUNITY: WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER!
