2020 Hometown HEROES Magazine LINCOLN DAILY NEWS May 14, 2020 Page 55 COMMUNITY: WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER! Moksha Center offers wellness tips during ‘Stay at Home Rule’ E arlier this year a new holistic wellness center enjoyed a soft opening in Lincoln. Marcia Cook, who is a trained nurse as well as educated in a number of holistic areas opened Moksha Center sharing the space with her close companion and local artist Jason Hoffman. Cook and Hoffman were looking forward to a grand opening and a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 2nd, but that has had to be cancelled. Cook and her team have talents that would be very helpful as we struggle with the stress and anxiety of the coronavirus, the lack of socialization due to social distancing and the state stay at home rule. While she and the team can’t give you in person touch, Cook has agreed to write you a note or two. We start today by introducing Cook and her business, her training, and how she was led to follow this line of healing. Then Cook offers some personal words for everyone. She shares tips on how to manage what you are feeling and how to counterbalance the negative by focusing on the positive. Moksha Center and how you find balance The Moksha Center is a holistic wellness center for people to come together for a wellness journey. The focus is holistic care, which is looking at a person from a whole perspective and knowing that all parts are connected and not fragmented. The environment is one that promotes self- discovery, healing and connection. The Center’s practitioners provide compassionate services, classes and programs that support wellbeing practices such as yoga, reiki, meditation, healing touch, Ayurveda care and life coaching. About the owner Marcia Cook is the creator and owner of the center along with Jason Hoffman, who showcases his contemporary art in the space. Cook has been a nurse for over 25 years. After years of feeling run down and exhausted, and when traditional medicine didn’t offer much hope and taking another pill wasn’t an option, she continued on her own healing journey. She found incorporating many of the different holistic methods a benefit. Now she shares hope for others through a variety of complimentary modalities or practices that bring one back into balance and optimal health. Cook has been trained and certified as a Healing Touch Practitioner since 2014. The body’s energy or biofield (magnetic field) supports and facilitates physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. CONTINUED u
