She delivers meals, herself, usually two to five times a month depending on team members’ schedules. She says, “Life happens!” and she is happy to fill in when needed. So she doesn’t find herself idle, Reifsteck is currently president of the Habitat for Humanity of Logan County. Along with that she serves as the Family Support Chair, which means being among those of the committee keeping in touch with homeowners, helping in their needs of home ownership, upkeep and budget counseling. Reifsteck commented, “I truly believe in the ministry of HFHLC, and now limited in putting in long hours I help in any capacity that keeps us a positive force in the area. We truly are a family: board members, homeowners, and applicants together - along with those who have served on the board but continue their support. I’m proud to be a part of this terrific group of compassionate volunteers.” KK Fikri of HFHLC said, “Toni is a wonderful human being! I am blessed to know her. This award could not have gone to a better person.” When asked about her fondest moments of volunteering Reifsteck responded, “Every group keeps my heart joyous but I have to say, every time at the closing of a HFH House Blessing, when the keys to the home are handed to the new homeowner, it brings a joy (and tears even after over 44 years of being and working alongside these HFH volunteers) as you see a family, who in many instances had lived in deplorable conditions, get a chance to own their own home!
