Starasta said she was always impressed by O’Donohue’s willingness to give up everything to go and serve others. O’Donohue did not put down others, but was simply following God’s call on her life. As Starasta said, O’Donohue’s cross-cultural work gave her the ability to consider other viewpoints and to think critically about issues. She was never satisfied with the status quo but worked tirelessly to pursue justice for all people. O’Donohue was always hungry to learn more and encouraged those around her to continue learning as well. When she was away from her African family O’Donohue planned for her return and kept in close contact. The villagers griefs were her griefs, and their joys and successes hers to celebrate passionately, day in - day out for nearly 25 years. At O’Donohue’s memorial service last August, Dr. Boatman said she changed the lives of those who became a part of the life changing work she was about. Through her work, O’Donohue showed people the love of God.
