2021 Hometown HEROES Magazine LINCOLN DAILY NEWS May 27, 2021 Page 29 CONTINUED u Logan enjoyed several jobs influencing those he worked with, as well as those he served, in each position. His love of cooking lead him to positions at Wyse’s Carry Out, Al’s Main Event and the Depot Restaurant. It was during those days that Roy started to mentor young people teaching them work responsibility, how to handle money, and taking them on field trips to upscale restaurants giving them experiences they never would have had on their own. Roy was a great encourager, letting people know that they could accomplish whatever they set their minds to. Many of those young people stayed in touch with Logan as they graduated and went on with their life, some staying in Lincoln and some moving away. They always credited Roy Logan with helping them get their life straightened out. His passion for cooking lead him to do cooking “how to” shows on CITV5 making him recognizable to many more in the community. It was not unusual for a friend, family member, or acquaintance to be the recipient of pot of chili or a bowl of chicken and noodles as a way to express thank you, congratulations, or condolence. Kent D. Froebe, Superintendent of Lincoln Elementary School District #27, enjoyed sharing recipes with Logan. Froebe said, “Roy always brought a smile to my face with his vibrant personality and uncanny wit. I looked forward to his regular visits to the office and could easily lose track of time listening to his stories and jotting down new cooking recipes to try at home. Roy’s infectious laugh and Roy D. Logan (1957-2021) T here is no pomp and circumstance, no groundbreaking for a new building, and no statue in the town square (yet,) but the impact Roy Logan made in his hometown was real. Logan passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at his home. He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality and his love for interacting with people. Roy Logan By Lisa Ramlow and Karen Hargis
