2019 Paint the Paper Pink Lincoln Daily News October 2019 Page 111 O n Wednesday, October 23rd, the Country Aire Restaurant in Atlanta hosted a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness. During the evening, staff wore their pink shirts, and a percentage of the receipts went to the Friends and Family Relay Team. The restaurant brought in $150 for the American Cancer Society on that day. The check was presented to the team by restaurant owner Nick Bekteshi and accepted by Karen Hargis. The money from both fundraisers will be routed to the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life of Logan County. The funds will also be earmarked to stay in Logan County and offer service and support to breast cancer warriors in our community. O n Saturday, October 12th, the Lincoln Dairy Queen hosted a fundraiser car wash in honor of their former owner/manager Sandy Adkins. Sandy was a breast cancer warrior. She passed away in May of this year. Several friends and family volunteered for the event including Sandy’s two daughters. At the end of the day, the group had raised $600. The check was presented to Karen Hargis of the Friends and Family Relay Team by DQ Manager Hayley Werner. Photos by Roy Logan
