2021 PAINT THE PAPER PINK
Page 14 2021 PAINT THE PAPER PINK LINCOLN DAILY NEWS Oct./Nov. 2021 I f you were unable to attend this year’s Pink Pumpkin Fundraiser Auction you missed quite an event. This year the silent auction was bigger and better than ever with approximately 120 auctions. There were approximately 50 gift cards for everything from dinners at local restaurants, to discounts on tires, discounts on vehicle service and windshield repairs, free lawn care services, discounts on flooring, free stays in local motels and much more. Merchandise donated to the silent auction included designer sun glasses, collectible toys, sports and game card baskets, Bluetooth speaker system, power tools, plant propagation systems, travel mugs, and large variety of gift baskets containing multiple items from select merchandise from local stores to food products to oral care products. With so many items to choose from, shoppers spent their full hour reviewing the items, placing their bids and then keeping an eye out for anyone who might sneak in and up them. At the end of the silent auction there were only a small handful of items that received no bids. These items were then packed in a bucket, labeled ‘mystery package’ and offered at live auction where the bucket captured $500. Don’t worry, the live auction audience knew the items were at silent auction first. It shows the hearts of the bidders to make good for a good cause. On the live auction side of the event, there were nearly 50 items donated by local businesses, individuals and organizations. There were three handmade quilts or comforters, several beautiful floral arrangements, live plants, lots of pink pumpkins filled with candy and other tasty treats, and a variety of little characters made from pink pumpkins, some that could be for everyday display and some combining breast cancer awareness with the other special event in October – Halloween. Items in the live auction sold well and at the end of the night the tally of money raised for the American Cancer Society was the largest to date, topping out at approximately $20,000. Nearly 170 items donated for live and silent auctions
