Page 38 2020 Logan County Farm Outlook LINCOLN DAILY NEWS March 19, 2020 Continue 4 Jackie Jones – Illinois Farm Bureau, Associate Field Support Director. Betsy Burgener – Ag Teacher, Central A & M. (The three mentioned above – Emily, Jackie, Betsy - are sisters) Martha Green – Family farming/baling business in Atlanta IL area. Not originally from Logan County – but involved in “Ag” in Logan County: Betsy Pech – Retired Ag Teacher from Hartsburg/Emden, beef cattle producer. Katie Bishop – Co-owner PrairiErth Farms (Atlanta, IL). Ag scholarships are awarded each year to Logan County youth who plan to pursue a career in agriculture. The Chamber of Commerce began the program in 2000 and the Logan County Farm Bureau continues it. The following is a list of women recipients in the past twenty years: 2019 Four of the seven recipients in 2019 were women: Molly Schempp, Sierra Smith, Madison Thomas and Maggie Anderson. 2018 Cierra Crowell, Lincoln - planned to study Equine Science with a minor in Agronomy and Agribusiness at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. 2017 Skye Kretzinger, Mount Pulaski, now finishing an Associates in Art with an Emphasis in Agriculture plans to transfer to Iowa State University to pursue a degree in Agriculture and Society, then attend law school with a goal of becoming an Agriculture Lobbyist. Ashley Zinser of Hartsburg-Emden High planned to major in Agriculture Business. 2016 Elizabeth Ford of Elkhart planned to attend the University of Missouri to major in Ag Economics. Kamryn Aylesworth of Mount Pulaski High School planned to attend Black Hawk East, Galva to major in Equestrian Science, Horse Science Technology & Vet Tech. Meg Lynn Meeker of Emden planned to attend Heartland Community College, then University of Illinois to major in Agriculture Education. Michelle Paulus of Lincoln headed for University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign to major in Agricultural and Consumer Economics and Finance in Agribusiness. Genevieve Maxine VanWye of Atlanta planned to attend Iowa State University to major in Animal Science.
