Sweetheart Cherry-Brownie
Dessert
“cut a piece and serve with 2 forks with your sweetheart!”
1 box brownie mix
oil, water and egg amounts according to package
1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
½ cup powdered sugar
½ teaspoon almond extract
1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
2 tablespoons amaretto liqueur (optional)
¼ cup sliced almonds, toasted
Mix and bake brownies in 8-inch square pan according to package
directions. Cool.
Whip heaving whipping cream, powdered sugar and extract to form
peaks; set aside. Fold cherry pie filling and amaretto into
whipping cream. Spread topping mixture over cooled brownie.
Sprinkle with toasted almonds. Chill 1 hour or so, this dessert
tends to get soggy if it sits too long.
Note: I like to reserve some cherries top each piece before
serving.
