Molasses Cookies

“Taste and smells like the Holiday Season.”
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
In a large mixing bowl, mix together all ingredients. Chill 4
hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 35O degrees. Pour 1/4 cup
granulated sugar onto a dinner plate. Shape in balls the size of
walnuts and roll in sugar. Place on parchet paper covered cookie
sheet 2 to 3 inches apart. Bake 15 minutes. Cool (can be left on
paper)
