8 2015 RELAY FOR LIFE MAGAZINE LINCOLN DAILY NEWS.com June 23, 2015
The Relay for Life of Logan County kicked-
off on Saturday June 20th at noon. This year
there was a format change for the annual
event, as in the past the relay has run from 6
p.m. to 6 a.m. This year, organizers decided
to try something new having the event start
at noon and run until midnight.
This year there were 26 teams signed up for
the relay with team member totals reaching
197 people. The fundraising goal this year
was $64,600. At Relay time, more than half
that amount had been raised. Fundraising
efforts for the 2015 year will continue until
later this year.
This year’s emcee for the evening was
Cameron Kurtz, who kept things rolling
along on schedule.
The change of time meant a change in the
routine schedule of activities. This year
the day began as is customary with the
presentation of colors by the American
Legion Post #263 Color Guard and the
National Anthem sung by Betsy Ramsey.
The opening lap was the Team Lap. The
teams walked together as a group around the
track formed by luminaries in the parking lot
of the Lincoln College Lincoln Center.
