Erna Hartmann

Erna S. Hartmann, 99, of Lincoln, died at 8:35 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2000, at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Her body was donated to medical science, and a memorial service will be at a later date.

Mrs. Hartmann was a clerk and bookkeeper.

She was born Jan. 5, 1901, at Lincoln, a daughter of Daniel and Fannie (Levy) Simon. She married Leo Hartmann in 1954 at Chicago. He died in 1956.

Surviving are two cousins, Len Levy of Chicago and Harold Levy of Belair, Fla.; two grand-nieces, Deidre Wimmers and Denise Kostomay, both of Fairfield, Ohio; and a grand-nephew, Dan Kostomay of Redmond, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Fred J. and Sidney Simon; and two sisters, Martha Kostomay and Hattie Simon.

She was a member of Temple B’Rith Sholom in Springfield and of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Holland & Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

 

 

 O. L. "Sonny" Deatrick

O. L. "Sonny" Deatrick, 72, of Shirley, was pronounced dead of natural causes at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, at the Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta. Clayne Beck will officiate.

Burial will be in Funk’s Grove Cemetery, rural McLean, with military rites conducted by the Heyworth American Legion Post 624.

Visitation will be one hour before the services at the funeral home.

Deatrick farmed in the Shirley area for many years. After he retired from farming, he worked for the Thorp Seed Company in Wapella for nine years.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was born Jan. 29, 1928, at LeRoy, a son of Edgar and Lois (Bishop) Deatrick. He married Jane Cotton Oct. 20, 1952, at Fort Ord, Calif. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Connie (and Tom) Stock of Armington, Sandy (and Mark) Regenold of Farmer City and Sherry (and Scott) Springer of Heyworth; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul Deatrick of Wapella, Delmar Deatrick of Bloomington, Donald Deatrick of McLean and Roger Deatrick, also of McLean; and two sisters, Margaret Spaulding of McLean and Charlene Bertram of Stanford.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heyworth Ambulance Service or the Heyworth Christian Church.
